I was very excited to work with Oriental Trading on this fun St. Patrick’s Day Project! Last October, they supplied us with fun non-candy treats for our DIY Teal Pumpkin Project Sign. This time they were kind enough to give us craft supplies to make several projects, including this Quick & Festive Wood Shamrock Decor. Check back later to see what other cute St. Patrick’s Day projects we made with Oriental Trading supplies.
Oriental Trading gave us the unfinished wood shamrock ornaments used for this project. I found the gold chipboard letters at Hobby Lobby in the sticker section but we found similar ones on Amazon for you. You can find the rest of the supplies easily online or in your local craft stores.

Quick & Festive Wood Shamrock Decor
materials
- Unfinished Wood Shamrock Ornaments
- Green Paint
- 1/4 inch Black Ribbon
- Gold Chipboard Letter Stickers
- Paintbrush
- Scissors
- Tacky Glue (maybe)
Quick & Festive Wood Shamrock Decor steps
one: Cut all the gold strings off of seven of the wood shamrocks.
two: Paint the front and the edges of the shamrocks with the green paint. I painted just one coat.
three: Place the W-E-L-C-O-M-E gold chipboard stickers, one onto each painted wood shamrock.
tip: If your stickers don’t want to stay stuck, apply a little tacky glue to the back of each letter before applying them.
four: Cut a 56-inch piece of black ribbon. Slide the W shamrock 22 inches down from the end the ribbon and tie a double knot on the back.
five: Slides each of the letters onto the ribbon, one at a time, double-knotting on the back before moving on to the next letter. You can space them however you like, but I didn’t leave a bunch pf space between letters so the finished project wasn’t too long.
tip: After you tie each shamrock onto the ribbon, make sure the knot won’t pull through the hole. I triple-knotted the last letter.
six: With the top 22-inch piece of ribbon, fold it in half and tie the end to the first knot, creating a loop to hang it.
That’s it! You can make this Quick & Festive Wood Shamrock Decor Project easily in 30 minutes or so. Definitely consider looking at Oriental Trading when you’re shopping for craft supplies.
