Like a lot of you crafters, I have quite a sizable stash of craft supplies, especially paper and papercrafting accessories. I joined a monthly Craft Room De-stash Challenge to try and help myself use those supplies I already have on hand. Seriously, I could stop going to craft stores for a year and have enough projects and supplies to keep me occupied. I know I’m not alone in this! So I challenge you, too, to make something this week, anything, using things from your craft stash. We’d love to see your projects, too! Just post them on our Facebook page with ours. Since purple is my favorite color and I have so much purple paper, I decided to make this Pretty Purple Cricut Birthday Card to showcase some of it as well as some of my Cricut supplies I haven’t been using nearly enough. See below if you’d like to see other projects made by crafters for the challenge.

two: Over on the left, turn off all of the other layers except the last one.

three: Resize the image to your desired card size. I want mine to be a 5″x7″ card, so I made sure the height is slightly less than 7 inches. Once you set your size, do not change it before you cut the front piece or it won’t match up.

tip: Once the image is resized, be sure to ungroup all of the layers. If you don’t, it won’t let you cut the individual layers when you switch between them.

four: Cut this image on your darker purple cardstock with your Cricut machine.

five: Go back to your image and change the layer to the first one.

seven: Go back to the cartridge images and select and insert the butterfly image. Select just the first layer. Resize the butterfly so it will fit into the corner of your card. I made mine with a height of 1.5 inches.

Whew! This Pretty Purple Cricut Birthday Card didn’t have as many layers as our Lovely Daisy Cricut Birthday Card, but I think it still has that embellished Anna Griffin style to it. Of course if purple isn’t your thing, this card would look amazing in just about any color as well as black and white.  What colors would you make this card in?

  1. You’re making me itch to get back into card making. When I started my blog, that’s all I was doing, and I have neglected it. I still have enough stamps and paper for all our Destash posts, ha! Love your card, so pretty!
