In case you haven’t caught on yet, I love, love to make holiday crafts and decorations. So I jumped at the chance to help a wonderful lady I met decorate her house for an upcoming Fourth of July party. She had some of the decorations on hand ready to go, and then we made some of the others, like this Patriotic Deco Mesh Door Garland. I was so excited to make it because it uses a material completely new to me called “work garland.” This work garland isn’t easy to find, even online. Amazon doesn’t even carry it! But the good news is that you can find it for a very good price at CraftOutlet.com. Let’s get started!

Patriotic Deco Mesh Door Garland Steps
one: For her door, we needed 24 feet of garland. Each Work Garland length is nine feet, so I first joined the three sections together by twisting the two ends together. Be careful not to cut yourself on the stabby parts!
two: Once the three parts are connected, measure out 24 feet (or your desired length) and then cut off the excess with your wire cutters.
three: Open up the two branches or arms all along the length of the garland so it’s ready for the Deco Mesh and ribbon as you move along.
four: Starting on one end of the work garland, fold the end of the Deco Mesh roll over the end to create a loop that covers the end of the garland. Hold it in place with your hand.
five: Now take the ends of both your red and blue ribbon and fold the ends over together and place on top of the Deco Mesh.
six: Twist the wire arms over all three layers of ribbon and then fold around to the back and twist it closed as shown.
seven: There is no front or back to the Deco Mesh but there is to the ribbon, so as you move down the garland, make sure to keep the ribbon facing forward. Twist the Deco Mesh piece and then bunch it to create a sort of bubble and hold it next to the next set if twisty branches.
eight: Arrange both ribbons on top of the Deco Mesh so that they match the curves and turns. Twist the branches around all three and then around to the back and twist it closed.
nine: Continue that process, bunching and twisting the ribbons, then twisting them in for the entire length of the work garland.
ten: When you get to the end, cut and fold the end of the deco mesh ribbon over the end of the garland wire like you did on the other end. Fold the ends of the red and blue ribbon, too. Hold them all together and twist the wire around to secure them. Both ends of this garland should look the same.
tip: You can make two simple bows out of the leftover red and blue ribbon to attach to the garland if you like.
That’s it! This Patriotic Deco Mesh Door Garland only took me an hour to assemble and I didn’t require and master-level crafting skills. We can all twist and fluff stuff, right? If glitter isn’t your thing (whaaat!?) you can easily swap it out for a more muted ribbon. I do know I will be ordering more of this work garland for some Christmas projects I’ll be working on, But hmm…I bet this would work great for a fall door garland as well. So many possibilities!
