The theme for June’s Monthly Movie Monday Challenge is wedding movies! I didn’t have to brainstorm a craft idea either. I knew immediately that I wanted to make something for Muriel’s Wedding. Yes, that movie came out a while back, but I think it’s a classic and so, so funny. Besides, how can you not like a movie full of ABBA songs!? One of my favorite scenes is when she’s finally walking down the aisle. It starts with everyone standing up expecting a traditional entrance when suddenly ABBA’s “I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do” blasts as her bridesmaids walk down the aisle. And that huge ear-to-ear smile on her face is everything. It’s such a perfect song for her and the occasion. But since most people don’t want to play ABBA during their wedding, I’ve designed this Muriel’s Wedding Inspired I Do Frame to capture the fun from the movie in a more acceptable craft. Who wants to get started already? I do, I do, I do, I do, I do!

Muriel’s Wedding Inspired I Do Frame Steps
step 1: Take out the frame inserts and paint the wood frame white, let it dry completely, then paint it silver and let it dry completely. I painted one coat of white and two coats of silver.
step 2: While that’s drying, go into Cricut’s Design Space and open a new project. Add a text box and type “I do, I do, I do, I do, I do”.
step 3: Change the font to Friday. Adjust the letter spacing to -2.14″. Resize so the text box is 9 inches wide. Friday comes free with Cricut Access, so if you don’t have that, you’ll need to purchase that font through Cricut or choose an alternative free font.
step 4: Click on Insert Images and search all images for “swirl.” I chose one that was free with Access. Insert the image and resize to fit your frame. I made mine 1.5 inches tall.
Tip: If you don’t want a swirl shape, you could always use your wedding date in the same Friday font.
step 5: Load your black vinyl and cut the words and shape out on your Cricut Explore. Be sure to use the vinyl setting.
step 6: Cut apart the words from the swirl shape then peel off the negative space vinyl. You may need the weeding tool to help get the smaller bits.
step 7: Snip off a piece of transfer tape to fit over your vinyl pieces. I just reused the same one twice. Be sure to line up the bottom edge of your letters or swirl with a line from the transfer tape grid so that you can place them onto the frame straight.
step 8: Carefully place the words onto the bottom section of the frame. Make sure to burnish the vinyl so it sticks to the wood and releases from the transfer tape.
step 9: Repeat that process for the swirl shape piece, but place it on the top section of the frame.
That’s it! I love the way this Muriel’s Wedding Inspired I Do Frame turned out. I chose the silver and black colors because they match my bedroom decor and because the photo is black and white. You can make the same project in colors that suit your decor or preferences, though. I know if I had black or silver glitter vinyl on hand I would have used those instead for sure! I think this would make a great wedding gift or shower gift for the bride, too.

Love it! Once again a wonderful project of yours using the cutting machine!
Thank you, Habiba! It does all the hard work, well, except for the weeding lol.
Love it! It turned out so well
Thank you, Jessica!
This is perfect. I have not seen the movie…I know…I am a loser! I can’t wait to check it out. In the meantime the frame is awesome. I am a font freak and I love this font!
Thanks, Michelle. I’m a font addict, too, lol. When I’m in Design Space, I have to be careful to not spend TOO much time selecting the fonts.
And another movie for me to see for the first time! That’s what I love about this challenge. 🙂 I love how your frame turned out!
Thanks, Megan! It really is a fun movie and you’ll see a bunch of familiar faces from before they were famous.
