When I saw these Mini Tobacco Basket Christmas Ornaments blanks at Oriental Trading, I knew I had to grab some and make adorable ornaments with them.
Who doesn’t love the look of tobacco baskets used for decor? I think they translate beyond the whole farmhouse look and give the nice warmth of a basket to a room without looking too basket-y. During the holidays, a lot of people spruce up their tobacco baskets with greenery or wreaths so I thought I could do the same thing but on a miniature scale.
I couldn’t make up my mind whether I wanted to do a boxwood wreath with berries or a classic pine wreath with pine cones so I made both! Be sure to check out all other amazing ornaments down below from the 12 Days of Holiday Ideas Link Party, too!

Mini Tobacco Basket Christmas Ornaments

- Evergreen Craft Stems or Pine Stems
- Mini Pine Cone & Holly Berry Sprays
- 1/8″ Red Ribbon
- Hot Glue Gun
- Scissors
- Wire Cutters

Mini Tobacco Basket Christmas Ornaments Steps
1: Cut 26″ of the Boxwood stuff. Make a loop and twist the length around into a 2 1/4-inch circle. Make sure to wrap it around itself as you go so it doesn’t make three separate loops.

2: Take apart the pinecone & berry sprays to get the mini red berries. Wrap the berry wires around the wreath and twist to secure six of them. I bent them all in one direction so they would lay flatter against the wreath. Set aside.

3: Take three of the pine stems and twist them together into one. Bend and shape it into a 2 1/4-inch wreath circle and twist the ends in and around the wreath to secure them.

4: Take one of the mini pinecone and berry sprays and place it in the bottom left area of the wreath and twist it around the wreath to secure. Arrange the cones and berries to your liking. You could also add a cute red bow if you like, but I wanted to keep it simple.

5: One at a time, hot glue the backs of the mini wreaths and stick & press them into the center of the mini tobacco baskets. Be very careful not to get hot glue on your fingers since the basket has openings! Hot stuff is hot.

6: Clip off the jute cord ornament hangers (or keep them if you like ’em.) Make new hangers out of the red ribbon and tie off. I’m not giving measurements because everyone likes their hangers in different lengths it seems.

That’s it! I am super pleased with how these Mini Tobacco Basket Christmas Ornaments turned out.
If I had to choose between the two designs, I think I’d choose the boxwood wreath one. I wish I could find some mini berries in white to make a different version, but I haven’t spotted any yet. Which one do you like most? Would you add anything else to the wreath? Are you #teambow or #teamnobow?

Oriental trading no longer sells these, do you know where else they could be found?
