I love Fall! It’s easily my favorite season and I love all the fun crafts that go along with it. After making the Spooky Skeleton Wreath for Halloween, I thought it would be fun to make a Fall-themed wreath as well, using the same concepts. Trash bags don’t come in bright colors, though, so I thought plastic table covers would work just as well. Those come in tons of colors, too, which is perfect for our Fall Harvest Wreath.

I found the table covers at Party City, but you can find them at a lot of locations that sell party supplies and definitely on Amazon. I found the plastic gourds there as well (surprise!), but you can find these at most of the crafts stores as well as Dollar Tree. Just don’t wait until November 1st or after to buy them! Once November 1st hits, it’s Chrispocylpse and all the Fall craft items are relegated to tiny end cap displays. Well, except Hobby Lobby, they at least had a whole aisle as well as several square displays. When you’re desperately looking for Thanksgiving paper plates for that school or work potluck later this month, remember them, Party City, too. No, we’re not paid to say that, it’s just a sad truth.

Be sure to Save it on Pinterest if you want to make it later!

How to Make a Fall Harvest Wreath

Fall Harvest Wreath Steps

1. Unfold the first part of the burgundy table cover so that the shortest side is still folded. It should be approximately 14 inches by 108 inches. By leaving this part folded, it will be much easier to cut.

2. Cut off three four-inch strips. Unfold the strips. (If you notice this table cover is brown, it’s because I wasn’t sure I’d have enough of the other colors. You will.)

3. Take one of the strips and use the clear packing tape to tape it to the wreath at a slight angle.

4. Wrap the strip around the wreath, making sure no white foam shows through.

5.Once you get to the end of that strip, use the packing tape to stick it to the wreath.

6. Start again with a second strip, taping it over the end of the first piece at a slight angle. Repeat for a third strip. Trim off excess. I used two and a quarter of these trips to cover the whole wreath.

7. Now cut the remaining burgundy table cover into four-inch strips. Repeat with the orange and yellow table covers.

8. Then cut all of the 4-inch wide strips into 12-inch pieces. When you cut them, bunch them up slightly so the edge is a little jagged. It’s okay if you cut them slightly longer than 12 inches occasionally, but anything shorter will be difficult to tie and won’t look as nice.

9. Tie the 12-inch pieces around the wreath with a double knot. Alternate between the three colors.

 10. As you tie the pieces around the wreath, skew and turn them so the knots aren’t lined up perfectly. This will give the wreath a fuller look.

11. You’ll want to tie pieces in alternating colors until you have covered the entire wreath.

12. Place your gourds around on the wreath to figure out how you want to place them before you glue them.

13. Spread apart the ties where you want to place the gourds, making a space for each gourd, and then hot glue them in place.

14. (Optional) Use a stick or paintbrush to create an opening on the back top center tie. Insert a four-inch piece of ribbon or string and tie in a loop. You can use this to hang your wreath.
