Do you ever see cute little seasonal items like these pails and just grab them even though you don’t know what in the world you’ll do with them? To quote Aleisha, “you have a problem, Marie.” Yes, yes I do. But they were only $1 each and I have done something with them, so there. I wanted to put Cricut vinyl on something patriotic for the Monthly Cricut challenge I do, but I didn’t want to make another sign. Well, I think I’m going to take these designs and make signs anyway, but for this project, I Customized Patriotic Metal Pails for a change. Be sure to check out all of the other fun patriotic Cricut projects below as well.

Customized Patriotic Metal Pails Steps
1: Create text files in Cricut Design Space and add images that compliment your choices. I chose “Stars & Stripes” (ITC Blaze, Cake Basics, Tango Reg Cricut fonts) “Land of Liberty” (Fudge Cricut font) and “Let Freedom Ring” (Prague Std Cricut Font) but you can use whatever wording you like. I got all of the images from Cricut Access by searching liberty and star. They’re specifically named “Liberty Bell” “Statue of Liberty Crown” and “Star” but you can use your choice of images or none at all.
2: You’ll need to measure your metal pails to determine how tall and wide your wording should be. I resized the wording and images to fit, and then attached everything together (Select All > Right Click > Attach) so it would cut as one.
You can also try to access my public file called Patriotic Pails, but you’ll need Cricut Access to use all of the fonts and images.
3: Cut out your designs on vinyl that contrasts with your pail colors. I chose Cricut’s Cranberry red. Weed out the negative space vinyl and apply transfer tape.
4: Carefully place your vinyl designs on the pails, smoothing them down with the scraper. Sometimes I like to place a small strip of washi tape to the surface to help make sure I stick them on straight. Remove the transfer tape once you’re happy with the placement.
That’s it! It’s pretty simple to make Customized Patriotic Metal Pails. I got my ideas for sayings from some cute signs in Joann’s and just played around with some different fonts and images from Design Space until I liked the combos. Onc thing I would definitely change next time is to make sure my vinyl color choice pops against the pail color(s) better. I think the red gets a little lost in all of that blue and those stars. If I feel super motivated, I may redo them in white, but for now, I like them as is. You can fill these pails with just about anything whether it’s for a party or seasonal decor. The work well as flower vases or they’d make great party favors for a July 4th party, filled with colorful popcorn and such. What would you put in your pails?
