My Hot Mess Craft Room
So I have a hot mess craft room. I have old craft supplies, new craft supplies, used up craft supplies, and craftermath all over every surface and part of the floor. It’s enough to make someone with cleaning OCD pass out! I’m certainly not proud of it either. Okay, maybe I think it’s a little funny because it is just so ridiculously messy, but most of the time I’m just frustrated with how it looks.
We moved into this house two and a half years ago and for the first time ever, I could have an entire room dedicated to my crafts and to help run this website. I tried my best to unpack and organize but I felt so overwhelmed and I needed to get cracking on some projects for the site. So, I jumped in head first before I had organized everything the way I wanted. But I kept buying more storage. And more craft supplies. A lot more.
I have had it cleaner than it is now, really. This is the absolute worst it’s been and I’m sick of it. I can’t find what I need when I need it. This is why I own four glue guns and more scissors than I can count. Well, a lot of that started when I had to lug everything around in tubs for 20 years. But now, I have a drawer or bin for every little thing, I just need to put it all away properly for once, in logical places that will help my workflow. I think then I will be far more motivated to put away my supplies when I’m done.
Let’s see how it goes. I think having everything broken up into one specific area each week with this Craft Room Challenge will help keep this manageable and far less overwhelming. We even have 15-minute mini daily challenges I think will work for me on days I can’t spend all of my time in here. Check back next week or follow my progress on social media to see how well (or poorly) I’m doing while cleaning off my work surfaces. My son asked me what I get if I win. (There’s no contest, lol.) I said a clean craft room. That’s all I want.
Thankfully I am not alone! Thirteen other bloggers, including Aleisha, are also participating in the challenge with me. So if you don’t have a hot mess craft room, you may have one like one of the other hosts. You can see some of them in this video and also by visiting their before posts below.
Now let’s see what kind of mess Aleisha has to deal with:
Welcome to the 2018 Craft Room Challenge! From January 3rd through January 31st, 12 crafty bloggers will be sorting, organizing, cleaning, and decorating their craft spaces. Each of us has a very different craft space to tackle, so chances are you will find one similar to yours. We’d love for you to join in on the fun challenge and clean right alongside us. Follow along and join in on social media by using #craftroomchallenge and #confessyourmess. You can also find us and the challenge via our social media accounts you’ll see listed on each of our sites. We’ll also have 15-minute mini daily challenges for you in case you have limited time to dedicate to the challenge. We hope you share your messy spaces and progress with us so we don’t feel alone this month!
Before you see the rest of the crafty spaces, please meet our lovely hosts:
