Learn how to make this super chunky Striped Blanket Stitch Crochet Afghan using Bernat Blanket Yarn. You’ll be amazed at how fast this classic stitch works up with this squishy yarn and my easy-to-follow instructions!
For this Striped Blanket Stitch Crochet Afghan, I wanted to step out of my stitch comfort zone and try something completely different. I still believe that certain crochet stitches simply don’t look great with extra bulky yarn like this, but I’ve discovered that testing out new stitches instead of assuming they’ll look bad leads to surprising results.
It turns out that the exaggerated stitch sizes showcase how intricate and pretty some stitches can be! This isn’t always the case (I’m looking at you popcorn stitch,) but I have also been very pleasantly surprised (shout out to the bead stitch.)

I made this blanket as a gift for a guy friend and I think he was surprised that a crocheted blanket didn’t look “girlie.” I used his favorite colors, and stripes are universally popular, so I was relatively confident he’d love it, lol.
So, grab your hook & yarn and let’s get to it!
