When you do a search for Easter or Spring themed movies, the results form a very short list. For me, the first movie I think of when I think of Spring is one I grew up watching: Bambi. No not that part, all the other fun parts with all of the baby animals and especially that cute song “Little April Showers.” So when I decided to take part in the Monthly Movie Craft Challenge for April, I knew I wanted to make something to pay homage to that song and movie. I think this Bambi Inspired April Showers Handmade Card fits the bill perfectly. I chose stamps that reminded me of cartoon animation as a nod to the movie Bambi as well.

Bambi Inspired April Showers Handmade Card steps
one: Cut the light blue cardstock into a 7″ X 10″ piece with the paper trimmer. Fold the piece in half to make a 5″ x 7″ card.
two: Emboss the raindrop pattern on the front of the card using the Cuttlebug.
three: Find a cloud shape in Cricut Design Space and resize it to 4 inches wide. Add text to the center to say “Drip, drip, drop little April shower” in the Kryden font from Cricut Access. Cut and write the design on the grey cardstock with the Cricut. The cut/ write file is saved publicly in Design Space as “Bambi April Showers.”
four: Find raindrop shape in Design Space and resize to half an inch. Copy and paste to make 12 rain drops. Cut them on the blue vinyl (or blue cardstock) with the Cricut. The cut file is saved as “April Shower Raindrops.”
five: Cut the flower dies on the white cardstock. If you don’t have the flower and stamp set, you can sub the white cardstock for spring flower colored cardstock.
six: Use the various inks to stamp the flowers and leaf pieces. I ended up coloring in the white spaces with similarly hued color pencils.
seven: Adhere the cloud to the top left corner of the card.
eight: Adhere the flowers and leaves to the bottom of the card and bring them up slightly on both sides so they don’t make a straight line.
nine: Stick the vinyl raindrops at an angle coming down from the cloud towards the flowers.
Now you have a cute Bambi Inspired April Showers Handmade Card. You can easily add a sentiment such as “Happy Easter” or “Thank You” using stamps or die cuts if you like. Sometimes it’s nice to have blank cards on hand though so you can use them for whatever comes up in life. You could even add cute little bunny ears popping up from the flowers if you have a stamp or die for that.
